The tiny island of Rarotonga is situated due south of Hawaii at 22 degrees south latitude.  The main road around the island is 32 kilometers long. 

Ambala Gardens is in the south eastern part of the island.  Only a short 3 minute walk from here to the Muri beach area will have you choosing amongst some of the finest restaurants on the island.  These include The Flame Tree, Sails, Stephanos and the Point which is situated at the exclusive Muri Beach Club Hotel.  Along with that you of course have probably the best beach on the island with warm calm waters and the best people watching there is.  Along this resort strip bicycles and cars can be rented from either Budget Rent a Car or Island Rentals. There are also several small convenience stores located along the strip.

A short ten minute car ride will take you to the Tamarind House restaurant, which is probably the best on the island.  Another few minutes past that is the main town of Avarua with it’s variety of shops, restaurants, and services such as Internet café’s, Post Office, hospital, banks with ATM’s, police station, and petrol stations.

Rarotonga is served by Air New Zealand.  They have daily flights in from Auckland, and weekly non stop service from Los Angeles.
